This skin is only for the back of your kindle. I bought a skin that covered both front and back of my kindle and it cost less too!
5 Stars Attracts a crowd!
We purchase this Gelaskin to go on our Kindle 2. We already had the matching one for our laptop. We’ve found that when we are traveling, we get lots of interest generated by the unique look of our electronics. There’s no mistaking who’s equipment is who’s. And in a house with multiple identical laptops, its great to have easy identifiers as to whom the equipment belongs.

i loved this skin. it was inventive and creative. i find something new on it everytime i look. it makes me smile and it covers the kindle perfectly. it comes off easy too. i had to replace my kindle and i took it off the old one with such ease, no sticky residue.

As has been mentioned in other reviews, the skin only covers the back. This design is pretty and *might* protect it from some scratches, but there are better choices. especially if your aim is to personalize your kindle.
(I will say that the this design — the books on a shelf — has some cute details on close viewing.)
If you’re going to use a cover and intend to leave it in the cover when reading, the back becomes even less likely to be seen. You can go to the search engine of your choice and look for Decalgirl and get 2 sided designs, loads of choices, for less before shipping. Or eBay. My point is that there are more options than one might think at first glance.
I bought mine when I was a new k2 owner and before I knew there was a vast array of superior products that would allow me to find just the right design — one that would match my cover. (For covers, Cole Haan is terrific, or you can search Oberon Designs if you want to add more options. Cole Haan does have some faux leather options.)
In short, this skin and others might protect your kindle from some scratches, but it’s best to think of them as mostly decorative. Gelaskins only decorate the back. If you’re about real protection, something that has a better chance of absorbing the occasional bump, you need a true cover or case. There are a lot of choices out there and you can select items that co-ordinate with one another.
This might be the product for you — as long as you know the limitations and that there are other options.
