the Zen V Plus holds up to 2,000 songs, and the 1.5-inch OLED screen displays rich and vibrant photos, full-color menus, and album art at any viewing angle. Another great feature built right into the Zen V Plus is the tiny device’s ability to support subscription services and pay-per-download music. Plus, you’ll never sweat formats–the Zen V Plus plays the broadest selection of MP3 and WMA music. And browsing your music collection has never been easier with Creative’s innovative interface that enables effective and intuitive navigation and track selection. The Plus has an extra feature that it’s predecessor lacked: the ability to play short video clips. With the Zen V Plus you can watch short clips in transcoded video format and impress your friends with the latest tidbits from the web or a brief glimpse of a home video.
Another great feature is a Direct CD Recording function that allows you to record songs directly from a CD player or other audio source without using a PC as an intermediary. You no longer need to burn CDs to your PC then download to your MP3 player. Just connect an audio device directly to your Zen V Plus, and record your favorite CDs, records, beats and more, direct from the source. Meanwhile, automatic track detection separates each song for you–a handy feature when you’re converting analog (records and cassette tapes) to digital. If organization is a high priority, the Zen V Plus’s Personal Organizer will help you stay connected and in-sync with your Microsoft Outlook information. Just connect the Zen V Plus to your PC, sync your Outlook information, and you’ll be ready to carry around your contacts, calendar, and to-do lists right in your pocket. 1 Stars This is The Truth About This Little Player. . .Go for the iPod Nano
Ok, let’s see. I really wanted a mp3 player so I started looking around. I wanted a iPod nano but they were a bit out of my price range at the time. I found this player and I got super excited about the price, I mean, it can’t be beat! So after more research I decided this was the player for me. That was a mistake.
DOWNLOADING MUSIC:
Was not extremely easy but wasn’t rocket science. The onl music you can download is from CD’s which bothered me.
THE PLAYER:
Good enough size but I kind of wished it was more sleek.
The display was easy to read and you can change the background to a picture from your computer which I thought was neat. The sound was fair, but the headphones they provide kept on slipping out of my ears.
A couple months later. . .
It froze! I tried resetting and everything. Nothing worked. I was sooooooooooo upset. A couple months later I eventually bought the iPod nano, I figured I would see how much better it was. I loooove it!! It is so much easier to use, iTunes is great, the size is great, i have never had it get frozen, downloading music is a breeze so I guess the point I am trying to make is if you are looking between the iPod and the Creative Zen V Plus I reccomend the iPod. Please adhere to this advice when buying. Even though iPod’s are a bit more expensive, it’s totally worth it. Which goes to say, you get what you pay for.
1 Stars Swindled! Is there an option for no stars?
I ordered this item as a gift for chistmas. It arrived on january 10th, broken. I contacted the seller for a refund and returned the item. I never recieved my refund and Amazon backed the seller. Amazon has taken a turn for the worse I fear.
4 Stars Good bet for your money
I have been using this player from past 18 months. I am enjoying it. The main problem with the player is it cannot play full length movies.
1 Stars Heed the warnings!
Pros: This thing did everything I wanted an MP3 player to do, which is mostly listen to audiobooks. It has extensive bookmarking features, and it was easy to add music, create playlists. Had no problems with the software or the interface.
Cons: The user manual doesn’t tell you half of what this player can do, but I figured it out on my own. BIG CON: As many others have reported, this sucker dies for no apparent reason. I’ve had to reset it, do the hard reboot & rebuild library stuff. Annoying, but not such a huge deal. Today it died while doing an inline recording with no warning. Wouldn’t turn on, computer wouldn’t recognize it, reset button did nothing. Dead dead dead. I’m no kid, I treated this thing like a newborn, and it was never dropped. So disappointing for a product I liked so much. Thankfully had (sort of) heeded the warnings myself & had an extended warranty on it, so I at least got my $$ back (from another seller).
Sure it’s great, when you first get it you’ll love it…’til it dies an untimely death. Mine lasted 7 months.
2 Stars Save yourself the hassle, get a friendlier one
I got this for my wife, who thought the design was “cute”, but operating it proved to be enough of a hassle that after 2 weeks, it started collecting dust on her desk and hasn’t been used since.
My major complaint is the invasive software needed on the PC side to load music and videos on it. The software is annoying, slow, and wants to run all the time in the background (just what Windows needs!). The device itself is also hard to figure out, with controls that aren’t obvious. Once you do, its usable, but with so many other mp3 players on the market, get one that just lets you drag and drop your songs on like a flash drive (I’m still in love with my 4-year-old samsung, I can drag music from home & work computers with no extra software).
As far as I can tell the Creative will apparently only charge while plugged into a computer with its software, if you want to charge it from another computer or a $5 USB to wall adapter, you’ll have to buy another special cable apparently. I’ve had 5 or 6 mp3 players since 1999 (pre i-pod days!) and this is the most annoying, clearly Creative doesn’t care much about the user experience (a friend with a different Creative model reports the same frustrations, we’re agreed to abandon the brand for a more user-friendly one). If you don’t mind the invasive software, it works as advertised, but I think there are many easier to use players out there.
